TRADE PACT MOOTED
Japan and South Africa (Received February 18, 9.55 p.m.) Tokio, February IS. The South African Trade Commissioner, Mr, Brennan, who is at present in Japan, met the Osaka Chamber of Commerce. Thirty leading business men proposed a reduction of South African duties, and the conclusion of a trade treaty and the appointment of a permanent Trade Commissioner to Japan. Mr. Brennan replied that the present duties did not discriminate against Japan There were good prospects for a trade treaty, and he favoured the appointment of a commissioner.
