St. Andrew Burns Club ith the rafters ringing to the skirl of bagpipes and lusty community singing, the Rechabite Hall, Willis Street, was the scene last night of a happy gathering, the occasion being the annual “Ladies’ Night” of the St. Andrew Burns Club. There was a good attendance and the evening went with a decided swing. . Pipe-Major MaeCallum opened proceedings with a selection on the bagpipes, this being followed by community singing of Scotch songs. During the evening vocal items were given by Mrs. Crawford, Miss Flora Mackenzie, Mr. McNair and Miss Pettey. Miss N. Lawson and Mr. J. B. Thomson rendered elocutionary items, and a piano and violin duet was given by Mrs. McGowan and Mr. G. Gunn. Miss Mackenzie acted as accompanist. An important item on the programme was the unveiling of a portrait of Robert Burns. The evening concluded with supper.
