A claim for more than £lOOO damages was made in tlie Supreme Court as a sequel to a motor accident which occurred in Anzac Avenue on May 1 of last year. On that date Hector Percy John Shaw, ot Tauranga. retired Lieu-tenant-Colonel of tlie Indian Army, was knocked down and severely injured by a motor-car driven by Albert I.eslie Bullen Shaw claimed £BOO general damages and £212/1-1/- for hospital and medical expenses from Bullen Plaintiff claimed that tlie accident was due to rhe excessive speed of defendant’s car and other negligence of defendant, but defendant denied negligence, and alleged that the accident was due'to plaintiff’s failure to exercise reasonable care in crossing tlie street. The jury gave a verdict for defendant.
