SENTENCED TO JAIL
Speaker of Ceylon State Council CONTEMPT OF COURT (Received February 19, 1.7 a.m.) Colombo, February 18. Mr. A. F. Molamure, till recently Speaker of the State Council, was sentenced to 12 months’ simple imprisonment on a charge of contempt of court. Defendant is sole executor of his uncle, the late J. W. Maduwanwella, a note Kandyan chieftain. He drew all the cash assets from the bank against an order of the district judge before payment of death duty. Suspension of sentence pending an appeal to the Privy Council was refused.
