WANGANUI GARDEN PARTY Some 300 people motored from ad; joining districts and from Wanganui on Saturday afternoon to attend a garden party held at “Manurewa,” the residence of Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., and Mrs. Polson. The proceeds of the function are to be devoted to the funds of the W.D.F.U. ’and the Travelling Dental Clinic. The afternoon was glorious, and the beautiful grounds, with their wealth of stately trees and flowers, were a perfect setting for the appropriate programme. A charming garden play. “A Pastorale,” produced by Mrs. T. E. Lovegrove, was acted by Misses N. McLaren, P. Taylor. B. Bond and A. Rogers. The play was set under a magnificent crab-apple tree, over 100 years old. Maori haka and poi dancers, in native costume, were a great attraction, and the many stalls and competitions were patronised freely. The committee responsible for the party comprised Mesdames IV. J. Polson, A. Hunter, G. Wells, F. Carrol, IT. Munro, McGill, Cox, Trainor, Biehl, H. Archer, Welsh and Cronin.
