Christchurch Win Bowls Match By 327 points to 274, the players representing the Christchurch Bowling Centre defeated the Wellington centre’s players in the match for the Barnett Tiki at the Wellington Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday. Each side consisted of seven rinks. One game of 21 heads was played in the morning and one of 25 heads in the afternoon, and only the aggregate scores counted. When the morning game finished Christchurch led by 41, but Wellington scored eight points more than Christchurch in the afternoon, so that the visitors’ lead at the close of piny was 33. The southern players, who arrived by steamer in the morning and sailed for their homes the same evening, wore welcomed at the green by the president of the Wellington centre. Mr. W. Gilbert, and at the conclusion of play he presented them with the trophy and congratulated the winners. The Wellington centre entertained the Christchurch players at a lunch at which speakers made special reference to the late Mr. M. F, Barnett, of Christchurch, donor of the trophy. Mr. L. B. Evans, ex-president of the Christchurch centre, speaking on behalf of the guests.
