Trading Less Active Last Week AN EASIER TENDENCY A decidedly easier tone developed in the Dominion stock and share markets last week, notably in banks, insurances and Australian trading and industrial issues, the latter reacting to the pronounced weakness in the Australian markets. All the metropolitan exchanges were quiet, and the recorded turnover showed a falling off. c Government loans maintained a firm tone, but business was not very brisk. There was very little doing in local body and company debentures. Bank shares all showed an easier tendency. New Zealands opened at 00/D and declined during the week t® 49/9. The D mortgage shares sold at 32/6 and 32/-. National Bank of New Zealand had a sale at 09/6, a decline of 1/6. Deserve Banks were 1/- down on sales at £6/11/- and £6/10/-. Commercial of Australia eased on sales from 10/< to 16/4, the preference being placed at iV 17/6. E.S. and A.’s were sold at £o and £4/19/-. New South Wales opened at £3l/10/-, and except for a sale at £3l 12/6, eased to £3O/15/-. Australasias sold at £ll/12/6. National Bank of Australasia were done at £l2/17/6 and £l3, and the £5 paid at £6/7/- and £6 the insurance section, New Zealands weakened from 69/- to 67/-, od. above the latter price being paid on Saturday. Standards sold firm at 72/6 and Nationals at 23/1 and 23/2. In the pastoral and financial section Goldsbrougn Morte sold at 28/3 and New Zealand Loan and Mercantile® at £4o and id--10/-. New Zealand Guarantee Corporations sold at 6/- and 5/10. New Zealand Refrigeratings showed an easing tendency. Business in other sections was not very extensive. New Zealand Breweries eased from 51/6 to 50/6. In the miscellaneous industrial and trading section most Australian issues weakened.
