The Grimsby trawler Laganes was wrecked on a reef off the Iceland coast at the height of a terrific Arctic gale. Fourteen lives were lost, making 44 lost in trawler wrecks in 1935, of whom 32 have been from Grimsby. Other trawlers saw members of rhe crew of the Laganes drop off the rigging one by one and drown while they were unable to render help.
