Dominion Executive Decisions On the concluding day, yesterday, of the quarterly meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, held in Wellington, the following remits were among those passed:— That the Government be urged to place the sales tax on margarine so long as it is applied to other articles or products (Otago). That a protest should be made against the exorbitant price charged for pig foods,.’considering the very low prices paid for the commodities from which the foods are made (Dairy Farmers’ Union). That the Transport Authority be empowered to review local railway services at the same time as it reviews local goods and passenger road services (Wairarapa). A resolution was passed endorsing the action taken by the Nelson provincial executive in opposing the fixation of prices for carriers. The following remit was lost: That the embargo on importing stock from Great Britain should be removed, provided rigid quarantine strictures are carried out, and that adequate compensation should be paid to any person who.suffers loss caused by the disease (Dairy Farmers’ Union).
