For n stag to mate with a domestic cow has hitherto been unknown, but, according to reports, a month-old- heifer On Mr. A. Love’s farm nt ’l'ariugamotu bears marked characteristics of a deer, says the “Taumarunui Press.” The animal, which appears to be perfectly healthy, has a short tail and the hindquarters of a deer; while only two teats show any signs of development. The head is stated to be smaller than that of an ordinary heifer and it is thought that the animal is blind in one eye, both of which are very, small. The freak when walking or running continually makes the short nervolis jumps peculiar to the doer. The heifer is from a ifersey cow which whs turned out to fatten. This case is all the more interesting owing to the fact that it is stated by reliable authority that these two animals will not cross.
