N.Z. Council Business The council of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association met last night, the chairman, Mr. H. D. Bennett, presiding. Two new delegates, Messrs. A. Fitzsimmons (Canterbury) and A. T. Couchman (West Coast, North Island), were welcomed to the council. The question of visits between Australian and New Zealand teams was brought before the meeting in a letter from the New Zealand Cycling Federation, which stated in a letter that in the interests of the sport some attempt should be made to revive competition between the two countries.- It was decided that the-matter be kept in view for the next track season. The holding of the New Zealand cyling championships (other than the three events held at Petone last Saturday), in conjunction with the national track championships at Wangauni, was sought by the West Coast (North Island) Centre. The merging of the two championship sections wiys deprecated by Mr. W. A. Ingram. The cycling association, he said, had fought a bitter fight for absolute control, and now the association was on its feet the cycling championships must be held at Peipne as hitherto decided by the association. A telegram was tabled ftom the Canterbury association urging the holding of the championships at Wanganui. The meeting gecided against the application. . A letter was received from a number of cycling supporters concerning.the appointment of one of the association’s representatives on the federation. It was decided to reply that the matter would be dealt, with at the annual meeting of the association. NEW CONSTITUTION “After many years of hard toil we have just about arrived at a stage when we might say we have cycling under proper control,” said the chairman, Mr. H. D. Bennett, at last night’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand association, at which the newly-drafted constitution was received from a sub-com-mittee set up for the purpose. “With the >adoption of the constitution.” Mr. Bennett said, “amateur cycling in New Zealand has at last found its proper resting place. Things are quite satisfactory with the one . exception Canterbury. This centre is in a very chaotic state just now. Fortunately it is nothing to’do with our organisation.
