FIRST CROQUET TEST

England and New Zealand LAST MATCH WILL DECIDE (Received February 3, 6.30 p.m.) Melbourne, February 2. The result of the first croquet Test, England v. New Zealand, depends on the outcome of the last doubles match, which was unfinished to-day owing to rain. The singles match unfinished on Friday was completed to-day, Poulter (England) defeating Mrs. Caldow (New Zealand).

Progress totals are: Singles, England three rubbers, seven games, 2SS points; New Zealand, two rubbers, seven games, 249 points. New Zealand began to-day by winning the first doubles, Hartnell and Mrs. Corbett defeating, Petley and Poulter. The second doubles between Mrs. Caldow and Stratton and Du Pre and Wemyss wfls interrupted by rain and will be completed on Monday.
