Menzel’s Surprise Win SYDNEY TENNIS MATCHES (Received January 20, 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, January 19. The international triangular tennis tournament between Europe, Australia and South Africa was continued in perfect weather. Surprise features were Crawford’s defeat by Menzel and the youthful Bromwich’s convincing victories over Maier and Kirby. The latter, however, was handicapped by an injured finger. Results are:— Bromwich (Australia) beat Maier (Spain), 6-2, 7-5. Bromwich beat Kirby (SouthAfrica), 6-0, 6-2. McGrath (Australia) beat Stefani (Italy), 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Menzel (Czechoslovakia) beat Crawford (Australia), S-Q, 0-6, S-6. Crawford and McGrath beat Maier and Menzel, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, 8-6. DAVIS GUP ENTRIES New Zealand Included London, January 18. Davis Cup entries in the European zone include Australia, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, and South Africa; in the Northern American zone, China, Mexico,‘and the United. States; South American zone, Brazil, Uruguay. Entries close on January 31. The draw will be made in London on February 1. _________
