NEW ZEALANDER WINS CYCLING RACE
Ralston at Mordialloc REMARKABLE FINISHING SPRINT By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. (Received January 20,11.40 p.m.) Melbourne, January 20. Riding brilliantly near the finish, Ralston, New Zealand, won the Mordialloc Cycling Grand Prix on Saturday, for which the prize is £B7/10/-. Thirty-six of the best Australian and New Zealand cyclists entered. The distance was 50 kilometres. Ralston opened with a hectic dash, leading by 200 yards. He was overtaken several times, but put in an amazing finish in the last lap, winning by more than 200 yards. Details are:— Ralston, 46 points; Moore (Tasmania) ,30 points; and Moritz (South Australia), 30 points. The time was Ihr. llmin. 35sec. With A. Mott, Victoria, Ralston also won the teams contest with 66 points. Ralston won live of the 22 sprints in the race, and was placed in two others. Hill, New Zealand, won two sprints and was placed in four others, and Turtill. New Zealand, was placed in one sprint.
