Lusitania’s Adventure (From “The Dominion,” January 19, 1910.) The great Cunard liner 1 Lusitania. 31,550 tons gross, had a thrilling experience in mid-Atlantic. The steamer, which is 250 yards (over one-seventh of a mile) long, was buffeted by a high seismic wave. Two thousand tons of water was shipped. The wheelroom and charthouse were damaged, and the lifeboats were dislodged; Clerks who have to dress well on slender salaries will welcome an electrical novelty iu the shape of a clothes cleaner which is to be imported into Wellington at an early date. The electrical clothescleaning apparatus is already working in the Uniteel States, where a man can walk into a tailor’s shop in a soiled or shiny costume and come out in five minutes in a spiek and span suit, clear- of spots and with a surface as good as new in the place where time had worn an annoying shine. Mr. Al. A. Noble has notified the Cricket Board of Control of his retirement from firsLclass cricket, owing to business exigencies. The board has recorded its appreciation of Mr. Noble's great services to Australian cricket.
