Saturday and Sunday Afford Contrast in Wellington Wellington experienced an unsettled and squally day on Saturday with intermittent rain. A strong northwesterly wind blew until midnight, when it decreased in force. The maximum temperature was 67.1 deg., and the minimum was 58.7 deg. Sunday broke beautifully fine and warm, and remained so throughout the day. There was a light north-westerly breeze. The weather was sultry and overcast in Palmerston North on Saturday with a temperature of 81 degrees in the shade. Sunday was fine with cooler conditions and a westerly wind. The weather in Wanganui at the week-end was fine, although heavy clouds on Saturday afternoon seemed to promise a heavy rainfall. Scattered showers fell throughout the, night. Sunday morning, although unsettled, was still comparatively line, with the temperature much cooler. Threatening conditions prevailed at Masterton on Saturday, the sky being overcast. Yesterday was gloriously fine with high temperatures. A boisterous westerly wind and cloudy, threatening weather all day Saturday at Auckland was followed by showers late at night and during the early hours of yesterday morning. A moderate south-west wind, blew yesterday and the weather was fine. The weather was overcast in Christchurch on Saturday with a very light easterly breeze. There were some drizzling showers in the morning. The sky cleared toward evening and yesterday was brilliantly fine with a •fresh easterly breeze. The barometer was low and unsteady. After a week of unsettled weather flue weather prevailed at Dunedin during the week-end. There were over 11 hours of sunshine on Saturday, and although heavy rain set in during the night, yesterday morning broke fine and the sun shone continuously for over 12 hours. Conditions were dull again last evening and the barometer was unusually low. 29.30 being the reading at 6 p.m. A fresh north-east breeze blew on Saturday and increased somewhat in force yesterday.
