CONGRATULATIONS FROM A SCOTSMAN
Ministers of the Crown enjoy their birthday anniversaries just like ordinary folk, but when one has lived all his active life in the same town lie is sure of a generous measure of congratulations from old friends.
Such was the experience of the Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Education, who celebrated his 56th birthday on Saturday. He had a good reason to be happy—he does not look his age. The Minister had a heavy mail, including .sheafs of private letters and telegrams. One message from the country stood out from all the rest. It was a telegram from a Scottish friend ; the greeting was cordial and economically brief —’’Many happy returns.” The message was sent “collect”!
