Sir Alexander Godley’s Visit
Sir Alexander Godley, G.C.8., K.C.M.G., who was in command of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force at various times during the Great War, is at present visiting the Dominion, and will arrive at. Wellington on Thursday, January 31. During his tour through the Dominion Sir Alexander Godley has been met by returned soldiers who were under his command during the Great War, and every effort will be made to let. all who wish to meet him while he is in Wellington do so. Sir Alexander Godley will be entertained by the United Services Club on Friday, February 1, and it is probable that he will be accorded a civic reception on the same day, but as the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) is out of Wellington at present definite arrangements cannot be made. The Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association is already making arrangements to entertain Sir Alexander, but the date on which he will meet members of the association will depend on his engagements. In the meantime the association has decided that either February 4 or 6 will be suitable to returned soldiers, and has asked Sir Alexander to say which will be suitable to him.
