Mita Taui>opoki, one of the most outstanding figures in. the Ara Mil confederation of tribes, and probably the best-known Maori chief of Hi-? present day, died at a private hospital in Rotorua last evening. The aged chief, who was R 9 years of age and was a descendant of Hie Ngati Wahio, the original owners of Hie Whakarewarewa Reserve, had been noted for his strong personality, the force of which gave him mana and authority and the leadership of Hie Hapu following Hie death of Major Kepa Te Rang!
