1 Pleased With Hospitality TAKINGS DISAPPOINTING The Council of the New Zealand Golf Association, at its monthly meeting this week, recorded appreciation of the entertainment tendered to the British team of amateur golfers by the various clubs on whose links matches were played, the of the team having expressed pleasure at the way they were received everywhere. Various accounts in connection with the tour were passed for pa'yment, but as there are other accounts still to come in the financial side of the tour could not be finalised. The gross takings at the seven matches were somewhat disappointing, totalling only £2lO/2/6 anti, of course, the travelling expenses will be very considerably in excess of this, although two of the clubs. Rotorua anti New Plymouth, generously decided to bear all the expenses themselves, and remitted the gross amount of the takings. The association will be liable to the Government for no less than £2B/0/4 for amusement tax in connection with the visit. » 1935 Championships. It was decided to defer fixing the dates of the 1935 championship tournament on the Shirley links at Christchurch. Two applications were received for the position of travelling professional, which will be rendered vacant owing to J. R. Campbell having accepted an appointment at New Plymouth. It wits' resolved to notify clubs that if there is sufficient inducement two professionals will be engaged, as was done last season. The New Zealand Greepkeepers’ Association notified that the annual conference would be held at Palmerston North on January 22. 23. and 24. The British Golf Union’s Advisory Council notified that the British amateur championship this year would commence on May 20, and the British open championship on June 24. Forthcoming Tournaments. The association was advised of the following tournaments Wanganui Golf Club, Anniversary Day tournament, Wanganui open championship. January 22. Manawatu Golf Club (Palmerston North), Easter tournament, April 20, 22 ami 23. Castlecliff Golf Club (Wanganui), Easter tournament. April 19, 20. and 22. Poverty Bay Golf Club (Gisborne i, annual amateur tournament, September 3, 4. and 5. The chairman. Sir Alexander Roberts, presided at the meeting, and other members present were: —Messrs. A. D. S.
