Big- British Scheme to Start This Year PROVISION OF WORK Placing 18,000 Families on Small Holdings By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received January 10, 9.40 p.m.) London, January 10. The Government’s big land settlement scheme for unemployed, foreshadowed in Mr. Ramsay MacDonald’s broadcast on January 5, is being initiated this year at a cost of £14,000.000. According to tlie “Daily Sketch’’ it provides for the settlement of 18.000 families in groups of from 150 to 200 on small holdings between three and live acres. Each group is to receive instruction in the production of market garden crops, pigs and poultry. The Government is providing the land, materials for houses and all necessary stock and equipment.
