MILFORD SOUND CRUISE
Cruising does not altogether depend for its appeal on the places to be visited. It is the life on a large and luxurious liner, the entertainment, the irresponsibility, and freedom for a while from the ordinary worries of life that make a large part of the attraction. But what ia to be seen on the cruises is of course an important feature, and here in New Zealand -we are very well off for material for trips of this kind. The bays north of Auckland, the Marlborough bounds, and D’Urville Island, form excellent subjects for short cruises in which bathing and boating in beautiful and historic surroundings add spice and variety to the life on board ship. Quite different in character is the cruise from Wellington to Milford Sound, in which that scenic masterpiece is the principal feature of the trip, though pleasant days are spent on the way there and back m ship pastimes and in admiring the coast and mountain scenery on the way. The Monowai will be leaving Wellington on Monday, February 4, at 8 p.m. for a cruise to Milford and George Sounds, by way of the West Coast, which will be in view all Tuesday. The two sounds will be visited on Wednesday, and on Thursday evening, on the way home, she will make a call in at Pelorus Sound, where a final fancy dress ball will be held in the beautiful surroundings of Tennyson. Inlet. The return to Wellington will be made on Friday morning, February 8.
