Wiggs—Purdie
The wedding of Edna, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Purdie, Kelburn, to Greville T. Wiggs, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. T. Wiggs, Wellington, was solemnised recently at St. John’s Church, Willis Street, w’hich was beautifully decorated for the,occasion. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. J. R. Blanchard, 8.A., and Mr. W. Lawrence Haggitt presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a graceful gown of magnolia satin with touches of pink, cut on classical lines. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a wreath of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of white and pale pink sweet peas and carnations.
The bridesmaids, Misses Myra Smith, Colyton, Doreen Purdie, sister of the bride, and Bettine Kerr, niece of the bridegroom, wore frocks of pale pink silk georgette made with many frills, and wreaths of velvet flowers
in their hair. They also carried, bouquets of pale pink sweet peas and carnations.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Peter Buxton as best man, and Mr. lan Purdie, brother of the bride, .as groomsman. Messrs. lan Gibson and King! Tahiwi were the ushers. A reception was held at the Elm rooms, which were decorated with sweet peas and carnations. Mrs. Purdie received her guests wearing a dress of oyster silk and lace with lace coat, and hat to match, and carrying a bouquet of scarlet carnations. M.rs. Wiggs wore an ensemble of apple green silk with black coat and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of apricot roses. During the reception vocal items were given by Mrs. J. W. Jones, Miss G- Helen Gard’ner and Miss Effie Brice. The bride travelled in an ice-blue ensemble suit with picture hat to match.
