The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that its motor-liiner Rangltlki. which left Napier on November 17 for London, via the Panama Canal, reached London on Wednesday. BRITAIN’S IDLE TONNAGE. For the first time for some years lai'd-up tonnage In British ports has fallen below the million-ton mark. On October 1 the total was 327 vessels of 811.258 tons net, compared with 416 of 1,028.300 tons on July 1 (decrease of 21.5 per cent) and with 600 of 1.572.502 tons on October 1. 1933 (decrease of 48.5 per cent.). The latest total represents 1,366,840 tons gross, or about 2 000.000 tons dw. As In the previous quarter 49 British ships of 197,600 tons gross were sold foreign or for breaklng-up. These figures suggest that about 135,000 tons have been, recommissioned in this country.
