Telephone Circuits Broken

A number of telephone circuits from Auckland to Hamilton, Pukekohe, Tuakau and Waiuku were broken when the lines which follow fhe railway were burned through at Drury when a sixroomed residence owned by the Government Railways and occupied by the Drury stationmaster, Mr. C. Cleverley, was destroyed by fire, Tbe delay to the telephone service was not serious, for alternative circuits were quickly arranged. With the assistance of the station staff Mr. Cleverley set about saving what furniture he could. Much was saved, but a valuable chiming dock and portion of the furniture was lost,
