SUBSTANTIAL FALL SINCE JANUARY PEAK

The American Federation of Labour’s monthly survey published today declares that unemployment in October totalled 10,671,000, 550,000 more than in October, 1933, although there was some improvement from the year’s peak of 11,755,000 in January, 1934. It said that business activity in October was 2.6 per cent, below the corresnonding period of 1933, and added that problem during rhe coming winter would be “the most serious in the country’s history.”
