BRANCH ESTABLISHED
Home Science Alumnae
With the object of establishing a Wellington branch of the Home Science Alumnae (Otago University), a meeting was recently held at the Wellington Girls’ College. About 20 attended, some of whom were teachers of home science in the various types of schools, others graduates interested in home and institutional management.
The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. T. Parr; secretarytreasurer, Miss K. L. Simkin; committee, Mrs. H. Nash. Miss Chartres, bliss Thomson.
It was decided that monthly meetings be held throughout the year, thus enabling members to have opportunities of discussing problems and current topics of interest to the group. During the evening a most entertaining talk was given by Miss Violet McMillan. who, in travelling extensively, has gained much valued experience in that wide field of activities dealing with child welfare, Women’s Institute and club movements, and the extending of home science principles into the homes of the workers.
