HOUSE IN FLAMES

Father Succeeds in Saving Child By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, November 29. Sounds of their baby choking awakened Mr. A. P- Chambers and his wife, residents of Henderson, at 4 o’clock this morning. They discovered that the house was in flames and at the risk of his life the father rushed in from the sunporch and snatched the child from its cot in the burning bedroom. He was himself burnt, but the child was not injured. A dog in the sunporch had not awakened to give the alarm. The couple saved only a camp stretcher and bed. They had been resident in the house for only six months.
