When the cable steamer Recorder, which has now returned to Auckland, was in Bass Strait repairing the cable, she was ordered by wireless to keep a look-out for the passenger and mail aeroplane Miss Hobart, which disappeared after it left Hobart for Melbourne ou October 19. The Recorder searched Bass Strait for about 15 hours without result. She then resumed her cable repair work.
