AT SUNSET
The sunset.is gold, A most beautiful hue, The clouds are bright, ’Gainst the coming night. The day’s fast fading, The moon shows ycllo.w, Between the tall pine trees, With tho lake lying below. How sweet tho sounds, Down near the ground, Of the leaves rustling; The call of the hounds. By the lake side Is a hare crouching still, While the dogs pass above, Gross the brow of the hill. For she, too, lias heard The call of the hound, From the side of the hill, Heard, its echoing sound below. —Original, “Eire Pine,” aged 12. Featherston.
