McLean played very steadily in I lie morning round to lead 2 up. He was only three times off tbe fairway, approached accurately, and had a stroke round of 72, par being 71. Bourn and Ryan had a great struggle. Bourn had a tendency to push out his shots, but recovered well Bourn looked like giving Britain a 3 to 1 lead when Ryan holed out from a swamp to square the match at the thirty-third and eventually to win after Bourn’s drive at the last hole finished awkwardly behind a tree.
