12-YEAR-OLD PIANIST

Reports regarding the sensatien ereal ed in Auckland last week by young Philip Hargrave, the 12-yenr-old boy pianist, who is to present his first recital in Wellington at the Grand Opera House on Saturday night next, have reached Wellington, and a large amount of interest is being taken over his appearance here. Philip Hararave can only spend a brief period in New Zealand, therefore the young pianist’s Wellington season will be strictly limited to four concerts only. “Philip Hargrave’s touch on the keyboard is a surprising blend of delicacy and strength. His digital ability is quite equal to that of any virtuoso, and the rendering of prolonged passages is flawless,” wrote a Melbourne critic. Philip Hargrave will be supported by the notable Australian■ baritone singer, Alexander Browne.
