FIGHT THROUGH GALE

New Zealand Yachtsmen’s Experience CRUISE IN THE PACIFIC Dominion Special Service. I Auckland, October 28. A glimpse of the experiences of four young New Zealanders at present engaged in a cruise of the Pacific in the yacht Ngataki Is given in a copy of the vessel’s log which has been sent to Auckland. The Ngataki left Auckland on September 1 and sighted the first islands in the Tonga group 20 days later. During the first week out the yacht encountered the fierce gale in which the Marama from Sydney was hove to. The vessel was driven far off her course and the crew filled an oil bag and tied it on the bowsprit to prevent huge seas breaking aboard. The dinghy broke loose but was recovered.
