HAIRINESS IN WOOL

Massey College to Test Flocks SMALL FEE TO FARMERS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, October 26; Following on the failure of the wool levy scheme, Professor G. S. Keren, Principal of Massey Agricultural Col lege, announced to-day that the college, at the request of certain New Zealand breeders, has decided to test farmers’ flocks for hairiness at a small fee to cover actual costs. Six locks will be collected from selected positions on each sheep, and minute reports will be made on them for hairiness and other defects. A card index system will be employed for easy reference in the event of the sale of any animal. This is an attempt to meet demands that purchasers shall know exactly what they are buying.
