£60()0 For Benevolent Institutions LATE MR. WILLIAM WILLIS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, October 26. Generous public bequests are provided for under the will of the late Mr. William Willis, who died at Remuera on October 21. Mr. Willis, whose estate has been sworn at under £60,000 was a retired sheep-farmer who came to Auckland from the East Coast. • The charitable bequests, the total amount of which is £6OOO, are as follow: — Waiapu Hospital, for providing and maintaining a free bed and comforts for indigent people, to be called the Mirla Willis bed, £l5OO. Salvation Army, for the upkeep of orphanages, £lOOO. Institute for the Blind, £lOOO. Knox Home for Incurables, £lOOO. Auckland Ladies’ Benevolent Society, £5OO. , St. Mary’s Home, Otahuhu, £5OO. Fapatoetoe Orphans’ Home, £5OO. Mr. Willis, who was born in England, was an early settler on the East Coast and owned several properties, including a station near Tokomaru Bay. He retired from the stock business 13 years ago and took up his residence in Auckland.
