ROYAL VISITOR
Itinerary Curtailed HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS Reference to the forthcoming visit of Prince Henry was made by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, at the social gathering of the Wellington bra'offi of the Overseas League last evening. His Excellency remarked that five months and a half would elapse before he himself, with regret, would wave good-bye to New Zealand. His stay to some small extent had been extended on account of the Prince’s visit. His Excellency said he had taken it upon himself to curtail; the itinerary of the Royal visitor, whom he did' not want to leave these shores with a sense of fatigue. Other members of the Royal Family, on account of adhering to a too comprehensive programme, had been threate nd with a temporary breakdown in health.
After remarking that New Zealand was too modest about her wonderful scenic attractions, and that the tourist traffic was not developed to the extent it might be, his Excellency said he and his Ministers ’ had decided that the Prince should have the opportunity, of going to two or, perhaps, three of the seenic resorts that were outstanding in the whole world for special attractiveness. He mentioned particularly the Franz Josef Glacier, which had nothing to touch it anywhere in' the world. His Royal Highness would have the opportunity of carrying home to the . Old Land memories of'i the magnificence of New Zealand's . scenic attractions, only an infinitesmal ..part of which had been seen by many of the Royal Family.
