An attack on Mohammed by a young Sind Hindu author in his recent book“lslamic History,” had a tragic sequei in the court of the Judicial Commissioner at Karachi yesterday. The author. Maharaj Nathuram, recently was sentenced to eighteen months’ hard labour by the Sessions Judge at Hyderabad for blasphemous allusions to the Prophet in his book. Nathuram yesterday was waiting in court for the hearing of his appeal against the sentence, when three Pathans, who were Mohammedans, sitting nearby, rushed Nathuram. Two held him while the other repeatedly stabbed him. >. . ’ ,

The victim was sent to hospital, where he died. . . ' The court adjourned in confusion. Two of the attackers were arrested. The crime has created a sensation in the city, and Hindu shops were closed as a mark of respect to Nathuram, whose botjy was carried to the cremation ground escorted by a vast crowd.
