WOMEN AS GOVERNORS
The Schuster Committee appointed by
the British Foreign Office is expected to report in favour of the admisisou of women to the diplomatic and consular services and the Colonial Oflice will follow suit. This means, says the “News Chronicle,” that it will be possible, for women to become colonial governors, and already preparations are being made. The whole question of the admission of women to the administrative service of the Colonial Office was discussed with special reference to undertaking “tours of duty,” to which male cadets are called in the early years of their service. No woman has yet been admitted to an administrative post in the Colonial Service, but women are playing an important part in colonial development as doctors. teachers, nurses and welfare workers. principally in tropical and semitropical areas.
