Signor Mussolini and Dr. Schuschnigg AGREEMENT ANNOUNCED Florence, August 21. ■ Elaborate pageantrj’ marked the arrival of the Austrian Chancellor, Dr. Schuschnigg, from Vienna to confer witli Signor Mussolini. The platform was lined with Fascists, including small boys carrying dummy rifles. Signor Mussolini wore a dark suit and white yachting cap. Ho greeted the visitor in German, as trumpeters, dressed in mediaeval Florentine costumes, played a fanfare. Dr. Schuschnigg. pale and nervous, accompanied the Duce to the Villa Marinin, where a discussion took place on the economic situation of Austria and the Danubian countries. A joint statement, is expected, expressing a determination to keep Austria independent. Dr. ~ Schuschnigg subsequently mr nounced a complete agreement with Signor Mussolini not. only on general but on Austro-Ttalian problems. The most important result of the Florence conversations is that Dr. Schuschnigg and Signor Mussolini agreed that, active collaboration between Italy and Austria was necessary.
