WAIKOKOPU HARBOUR

With the object of securing a report on the Walkokopu harbour, the Wairoa Harbour Board has approached the engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mn D. Holderness. In a letter to Mr. Holderness it was stated that the board was anxious to have an unbiased report upon the schemes that had already been proposed. When the question of permission arose for discussion at a meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board, the chairman, Mr. T. B. Clay, explained that white Mr. Holderness had not refused be had written to the Wairoa board to the effect that he preferred the work to be undertaken by a consulting engineer and that his fee would be no less than if such a person were to make a report. Permission was granted Mr. Holuerness to undertake the work if he is agreeable. It was stated he would not be able to reply to the Wairoa board as to his fee until more information had been received.
