TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST.
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, August 21, 1934, at 4 p.m. V shallow depression crossed the Dominion last night, but a fresh one has formed in the north Tasman Sea. Pressure is high from southern Australia across the south Tasman Sea to beyond New Zealand. forecast: Freshening south-easterly winds about Cook Strait; elsewhere east to north winds prevailing; becoming strong in the far north, elsewhere moderate. Seas rough north of East Cape and rising in the Cook Strait area; otherwise smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Hast to north winds in the eastern Tasman Sea: strong in the northern portion, with rough sens; elsewhere moderate with smooth to moderate seas. Weather nufinly fair to fine at first, but with considerable cloud. Rain developing shortly in the far north, however, and extending gradually southward over most of the Dominion. Temperatures mild in the north, moderate in the south.
