GREAT GOLD DREDGE AT WORK.

The new high price of gold has stirred up the gold-dredging industry of California. The dredging process is necessarily extremely expensive, and is adaptable only to large-scale operations, the land being ploughed up over acres and acres.

The largest gold dredge in the world has already begun work. It will , handle 350,000 cubic yards of gravel, a month, and enough land will be acquired to enable it to operate for twenty years. It la easy to imagine the havoc such a monster would create in fertile and beautiful jjalleys.
