YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Wet and Squally in Wellington A strong and squally north-wester-ly blew throughout the day at Wellington yesterday and the weather was fine for the most part. The heaviest gust reported was one of 59 m.p.h. at about 10.20 a.m., but after 2 p.m. the wind moderated somewhat. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 52.3 degrees and the maximum for the day was 53.2 deS Typical spring conditions prevailed at Masterton. An occasional shower of rain fell in the early morning, but during the greater part of the day the sun shone intermittently. There was a light north-westerly breeze, but the conditions were pleasantly mild. The weather at Palmerston North yesterday was fine, with a fairly strong north-westerly wind and mild sunshine. The weather in Wanganui was line and mild.
Fine weather and a light south-west wind was experienced at Auckland, but the sky was cloudy and threatening. The weather at Christchurch was calm, dull’ and showery, 20 points of rain falling up to 5 p.m. The maximum temperature was 56.5 degrees. Cold and changeable weather was experienced at Dunedin. Heavy rain fell in the morning, accompanied by a fresh south-west wind. Conditions were touch brighter in the afternoon, when the sun made occasional appearances. The maximum temperature ■was 44 degrees.
