Valuable Animal Arrives For Hastings Breeder An Aberdeen Angus bull, considered py a prominent colonial breeder to be the finest type of the breed be has ever.seen, arrived by the WaitakJ from Melbourne yesterday. It Is cohsigned’to Mr. W, A. Macfarlane, of Waiterenui, Hastings, and was purchased in Scotland from Mr. A. T. Reid, of Aucbterarder, Perihshire, through the agency of . the Stud Stock Department of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. The bull Juror Eric, was bred by Mr. J, E, Kerr, of Harviestdwu Dollar, and .was sold, by bim as a yearling at tne Perth ' Show and Sale, March, .1932, where he was awarded first prize, making top price, ' The‘purchaser was Mr ’Reid. The following July Juror Erie was exhibited at the Royal English and Royal Highland Shows, at both os- which he was placed third. He was the youngest bull exhibited, mid bad to compete against bulls six months older. Juror Eric belongs to the famous “Erica” family, of Aberdeen Angus, and has some noted prize-winners in bis pedigree. His sire. “Eros of Derculich.” was top price hul) in bls class at the Perth Show, -1080, His grandsire. “'‘Entfaraller of Lethan,” was first at the Perth Show, “Entbraller” was-a great breeder being sire of Gipsy Erie, champion at the Highland Snow,-and himself sire of 'Jnrvie Eric,, ehnmnion at both the 'English and/Highland Roynl. Shows. On the dam's side, his gra'ndditm was by" the 2800 'guinea bull Euriptis. and a’-onawvltir her dam nnd grnnddam were nil Highland champions. Juror Erie’s fifth- dam. Junnn Erlcn, wns considered one of the best oqws ever exhibited, and won every time shown.
