The Junior Dominion

Dear Boys and Girls,— I’m sitting in the sun and positively purring at everything. I can just sec a silver glint at the tip-top of the pussywillow tree. Tim, the cat, can’t understand why this particular tree should be called a pussy one.' “I’m sure it couldn’t catch mice,” he sniffed. Now for some business. IVill everyone of you who during this year has asked for an overseas pen-friend and not had an address or letter posted io them send their names, ages and addresses to me, and I'll post them off to the International Correspondence League. That sounds very exciting, doesn't it? Oh, yes, and remember to state whether you wish for a pen-friend in England specially or in any part of the world. Il's the best way, I think, for there arc only a limited number of letters sent to me and mostly they come from Canada. Let me have your names not later than to-day ■fortnight. Jack Frost and Inkling arc waxing most enthusiastic about their page. It’s not to be a winter one, mind you; not a bit of it, but a silvery, sparkling, fresh one, with a hint of spring in its corners and lots of sunshine peeping through. 'No rain, by request, because rain spoils all Jack Frost’s work, and we don’t want that to happen, because he really is an artist, though such a sharp old fellow. • Mailbag parcels this week have been exciting. Just Jerry, Makara, made some delicious coconut ice and sent me a luscious sample of it. Lucky me! And then there are these “thank yous’’ to be said on behalf of Messrs. Snugbox and Company to Oliver Twist, Dannevirke, for the cosy red slippers he sent; Linaria, IVcstbournc, for a white and woolly pair of pilchers; Betty Welch, Masterton, who sent a blue knitted bonnet; Madame Pompadour, Eketahuna, who came to sec me and brought the delightful little warm vest; and Darzee, Pahiatua, whose tiny pair of booties with their delicate embroidered tips have been the source of immense admiration. You have been dears. Now, it’s good-bye again. With all my love. KIWI.
