COLLEGE CONCERT

St. Patrick’s, Silverstream St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, is rapidly becoming famed for its term concerts, which accounted to a great extent for the large number of parents of boys and friends of the college who were present at the performance on Thursday evening. The voices of the boys blended perfectly in the choral numbers, and the orchestra bore evidence of thp painstaking tuition it had received from its conductor, Father C. Feehly. , , . The programme was varied, ana included extracts from “H.M.S. Pinafore," which were performed in colourful costumes. So popular was this item that it had to be repeated in its entirety. The college possesses an outstanding pianist in W. Jobuston, who had to respond to insistent applause. During the interval, shooting trophies won bv the college were presented by Major E. T. Rollings, area officer. The trophies included the Kebbell Shield for the highest spore in the central command in the Imperial Challenge Shield competition, and the Barton Bowl tor the highest score in the Earl Roberts Memorial Competition. Company Ser-geant-Major T. Bunbury received the Kebbeli Shield on behalf of the school, and Cadet C. Marin, captain of the long range shooting team, received the Barton Bowl. A silver medallion for firing >a possible of 100 in the Imperial Challenge’Competition was presented to R. G. Elvers, who was the only competitor in New Zealand to obtain a possible. . .
