After traffic accidents, domestic accidents are the second most prolific cause of fatal accidents. Here arc some home dangers that require considerations if they arc to be avoided - A half-open door is a serious danger —especially at night time. Always keep the door either closed or wide open. To bump into the edge of a half-closed door is a common occurrence—and a painful one. Chairs that arc getting rickety should be mended or scrapped—they, provide a prolific cause of accidents. It is easy to fall off a step-ladder used out of doors, through one Of the legs sinking into soft ground. Overcome the possibility of accident from this cause by tacking a cross piece at the ground level to connect front legs, and another to connect back legs. Don’t let "Dad” tinker with electrical appliances that have become broken. Get them repaired by a competent electrician. Even the replacement of a fuse wire should not be undertaken without adequate knowledge aiuTproper cure. See that there Is adequate lighting on stairs and at all dark corners at night-time—many broken bones are caused through slipping on improperly lighted stairs. Always keep a pocket torch in a fired location, so that it can be found and used if lights fail, or an emergency arises.
