QNE of the finest tributes ever paid ( one Hollywood star by another was tendered George Arliss by Boris Karloff in connection with “The House of Rothschild,” the new 20th Century Picture to be released by United Artists. Although Karloff had not shared honours with a male artist since his elevation to stardom, he accepted, in view of his intense admiration for Arliss, the offer of Joseph M. Schen/r and Darryl Zanuck to apear in an important featured role in support of the distinguished English star. Karloff is east as tfie wicked Baron Ledrantz in this picture, and is said to give the finest performance of his career. .

John Warwick, remembered as Dr. Everai'd in “The Silence of Dean Maitland,” has been appointed assistant director to Ken G. Hall. His work embraces a knowledge of direction, the capacity to organise as well-as act, and a certain techncal knowledge in building and carrying out the setting the director requires.

T h e character which Mr. George Arliss will portray in bis picture for Gaumont - British will probably be one of great national Interest. Suggestions have already been made for filming the life story of Joseph Chamberlain, o f Pitt, and of those two famous actors, Sir Henry Irving and Edmund Kean.
