Sir,—l must thank Mr. Laing for publishing Sir Archibald Weigall’s excellent letter. Unfortunately, owing to Englands treaty with Denmark, England cannot to-duy put a quota on Danish dairy produce. , When in England last year, and discussing the question with a farmer member of Parliament, I nrgued against quotas as far as the Dominions were concerned, but in favour of quotas on foreign produce. He said, in effect: “Your farmers and ours should co-oper-ate with the object of creating a public opinion in England in ; favour of quotas on foreign produce to induce the British Government, when it is able to do so, to put quotas on foreifrn produce coming 0%. ™rp.
