OBITUARY

Mr. J.'R. Gilchrist

The death occurred suddenly at Oamaru of Mr. James Ramsay Gilchrist, aged 68 years, a well-known breeder of Border Leicester sheep, and a highly esteemed resident of North Otago. He was a son of J. C. Gilchrist, the first Mayor of Oamaru, says a Press Association message, and farmed successfully tlie Roseberry Estate, which a few years ago was purchased by tlie Crown arid subdivided. Mr. Gilchrist in his younger days was a fine athlete. He had been a generous supporter of sporting and musical .organisations and the agricultral and pastoral association.
